Relief of lions made of glazed coloured bricks lined the Procession Street of Babylon. The street was built during the reign of king Nebuchadnezzar II (604-562 BC). The street ran through the Ishtar Gate. A 250 m stretch of the street was excavated by a German archaeological team 1899-1917. The original width of the processional street was 20-24 meters.
